Libya has had its fair share of problems. ‘Hiking Libya” is fixing through bringing communities together.
Libya has had its fair share of problems in the recent past. However, a group of people calling themselves The Maghthet Team, are organising events in order to bring people together and take on extreme challenges. One of these is the ‘Hiking Libya’ event they put on between the dates of 19th April to 21st April. The hike starts from just outside Trippoli, in the valleys of Qasir Akhiar, up to the hills of Shaafeen Park.
The event takes place over three days, with the first day hikers walking 30k and then camping for the night. Then the following day hikers make the last 40k to Shafeen park. For the final day, they put on a closing ceremony that takes place in the Naggaza Hotel in Khums. They even give out awards for finishing!
If you would like to enter or see the great work that Maghthet have been doing, you can get in contact with them.
Other Nice Places To Hike In Libya
Erg Ubari
Situated near Ubari, a Tuareg-speaking oasis village. There are two major dunes and Erg Ubari is the highest dune in the Sahara Desert in Libya. The views you get from the top are insane.

The Acacus Mountains
These mountains are the most popular hiking spot in Libya. They are home to insane cave paintings, which date back to 12,000 BC of giraffes and elephants which once roamed lush Savannah grass lands. There are incredible rock formations throughout the Acacus, where the landscape is continually being shaped by the elements.

Nafusa Mountains
Situated close to Trippoli, it is fairly easy to get to. The landscape is extremely beautiful as the landscape is varied and wild. The altitude is not majorly high as the highest point is 968 meters. Throughout the region, there are Berber villages and mosques to explore.
